Over the course of my career, I was able to achieve a great deal of success, but I found myself at a point in my life where I no longer defined success by reputation, job title, or the amount of money I made. I wasn’t ready for retirement because, like so many, I felt a higher calling. Purpose, and giving back to the community, were key considerations as I planned my next chapter.
The Next Chapter
FocusCFO has allowed me to take control of my next chapter and enabled me to transition from traditional measures of success toward a career of significance. The brilliance behind the FocusCFO business model is that you get experienced businesspeople, like me, who are asking, “What’s next?” We are done with corporate life and all the pressures, hassles, and frustrations that come with that. We’re all at a point where we can take complete control of our time and use it to make an impact in our communities with small and medium businesses.
Experience Meets Purpose as an Area President
FocusCFO provides an opportunity for us to utilize the knowledge and experience that we have accumulated over decades-long careers while buoying small and medium-sized businesses, which are the lifeblood of our communities. As an Area President for FocusCFO, I have found purpose working alongside talented fractional CFOs and I'm proud to help make a difference for SMBs (small to medium-sized businesses). In addition to sharing knowledge, I also find great value in sharing my curated network with these businesses. I’ve spent decades building a network of trusted advisors who can help support the businesses in our communities. By helping business owners grow the value of their business, we’re helping them build their legacies for employees and their families as well as create the positive impact thriving businesses have on the vitality of our communities.
Making A Difference and Driving Change
Prior to joining FocusCFO, I had worked for Fortune 500 companies and then transitioned to working for a smaller, family-owned company. I quickly learned that the sight lines were a lot clearer at this level: the business owners were eager to leverage my actions, decisions, and experience to drive change in their business. At this level, business owners are often figuring it out as they go. By sharing our lessons, and helping them avoid the pitfalls, we are able to accelerate their journey to financial health and guide them on their climb to sustainable, transferrable value.
A Community of Support
As a member of the FocusCFO team, working alongside a community of individuals who, like me, are positioned to give back and share my values, provides an opportunity to amplify our collective impact. Through various continuous learning initiatives and open exchange of ideas and knowledge, we all become better business leaders.
Takeaway
I believe wholeheartedly in the notion that “to whom much is given, much is required.” One of the things that I believe makes FocusCFO so special is that it is a community of professionals who have the heart to help; FocusCFO gives us the opportunity to utilize our careers and experiences to give back to our communities:
