Prior to joining FocusCFO, Charles spent over 8 years at Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance, PA, the largest independently owned orthopedic physician practice in Tennessee. Prior to this, he served at The Advisory Board and Tatum (a division of Randstad) for a period of 7 years. His expertise in finance and accounting encompasses a wide array of responsibilities such as managing banking and legal relationships, executing monthly closes, performing variance analysis, strategizing budgeting and planning, implementing IT systems, undertaking project analysis, overseeing billing/collections, and conducting due diligence. In his career, Charles has successfully formed three joint venture companies, steering them from the conception stage through to the business planning, securing internal funding, finalizing deals, and startup phases. Some of his standout projects in healthcare have involved developing and implementing Value Based Care models such as care transformation, clinical integration, shared savings, bundled payment, co-management, and patient-centered medical homes. His consulting experience includes serving as an interim CFO for hospitals, facilitating the integration of dozens of physicians through diverse affiliation models, and achieving a reduction in annual losses by over a million dollars. Charles has demonstrated strong negotiation skills, leading to the successful completion of numerous transactions worth up to $200 million. His academic journey included two years at Arizona State University, after which he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA and an MBA.
